 Virat Kohli stirred childhood memories among fans during India's Super Eight match against Bangladesh on Saturday.

During India's gripping Super Eight match against Bangladesh in the 2024 T20 World Cup, ex-captain Virat Kohli sparked nostalgia among fans with a daring attempt to retrieve the ball beyond the boundary ropes. This incident occurred during the match's second innings, which India eventually won by 50 runs, moving them closer to a second consecutive semifinal berth in T20 World Cups.

The incident occurred during the 17th over of Bangladesh's pursuit of 197 runs at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua on Saturday. Bangladesh faced a daunting task of scoring 74 runs from only 18 balls with four wickets in hand. Rishad Hossain struck a powerful six off Arshdeep Singh's delivery, sending the ball over the deep-mid-wicket boundary and through the LED advertisement hoardings, where it slid beneath a platform.

Kohli, positioned close to the boundary ropes, leaped over the advertising hoardings and located the ball under the platform. He then made a daring move to retrieve it, crawling underneath and successfully securing the ball, much to the amusement of commentators.

In the match, Hardik Pandya played a pivotal role in India's commanding 50-run victory in Antigua on Saturday. He hammered an unbeaten 27-ball 50, which included four boundaries and three sixes, propelling India to a total of 196 for five - their highest score in the relatively low-scoring tournament thus far. Pandya also contributed with the ball, taking a wicket for 32 runs, while Kuldeep Yadav claimed three wickets as India restricted Bangladesh to 146 for eight.

Bangladesh's second consecutive defeat dropped them to the bottom of Group 1 in the Super Eight stage, whereas India surged to the top of the standings. Earlier, India had secured a victory against Afghanistan and maintained their position after Afghanistan stunned Australia on Sunday in Kingston, marking one of the tournament's major upsets and their largest international triumph to date.
