The semi-final line-up for the ongoing T20 World Cup is now confirmed. India and England will meet again in a repeat of their clash from the last edition's semi-final, where England emerged victorious by 10 wickets in Adelaide. Meanwhile, South Africa will face Afghanistan in the other semi-final. Afghanistan will be making their debut in the T20 World Cup semi-finals in the first match in Trinidad. The first semi-final is scheduled to start at 6 AM IST, while India's match against England will kick off at 8 PM IST in Guyana. Both matches are set for Thursday (IST).

Regarding playing conditions, different rules apply to the semi-finals and finals. While there is a reserve day allocated for the first semi-final between South Africa and Afghanistan, the same provision does not apply to the India-England encounter.

Why isn't there a reserve day for the India vs England semi-final?

It was predetermined that India's semi-final would take place in Guyana. However, there will be no reserve day for the second semi-final, which leaves only a day's gap between the match in Guyana and the final in Barbados.

Nevertheless, there is an additional allocation of 250 minutes if necessary, given that it is a day game according to local time.

What occurs if the India vs England semi-final is affected by rain?

Guyana has experienced a considerable amount of rainfall in recent days, increasing the likelihood of the match being washed out. There is a 90 percent chance of rain.

With no reserve day scheduled, an additional 250 minutes have been allocated to complete the match if necessary. However, if the weather prevents any play on the scheduled day, India will advance to the final based on their higher standing in the group stage.

The same applies to the other semi-final. If no play is possible on both the scheduled day and the reserve day, South Africa will progress to the final due to their higher ranking in the Super Eight stage.

It's important to note that if rain interrupts play on the scheduled day, there will be no fresh start on the reserve day.

For the first semi-final, there is an additional 60 minutes available at the end of the day's play, with an additional 190 minutes allotted on the reserve day if needed.
